Speed Society is an automotive lifestyle brand, content creation and vertical content publisher that delivers high quality engaging car-focused content. Starting in 2013, they were one of the first companies of their kind, giving away highly prized high performance cars to car enthusiasts across the United States, and now it has developed into a lifestyle brand, car club, and race team.

I joined in 2019 as a video editor, and ever since have had a hand in filming and editing the launch videos for the sweepstakes cars, as well as all other facets of video production at the company as the Director of Film and Senior Video Editor.

Listed below are all of the launch videos I have personally filmed and edited.

Speed Society - Beyond The Build

Filmed & Edited by Sam Staudt

Beyond The Build is Speed Society’s behind the scenes build series which follows along as we assemble 1000hp+ supercars to give away to car enthusiasts across the United States and Canada. I had the responsibility of picking up the series in the third season, and have been filming, directing, and editing each season since then, and we are now on season 10. We always partner with the best companies in the industry and do special focuses for all of our corporate sponsors products through vignettes, custom motion graphics, and designated segments eg. “The Jegs Breakdown Bench”.

Speed Society - Build for Brain Cancer

Honoring and documenting Kristian Nyberg and his last wish of restoring his 1969 Camaro Z28 and driving it with his son

In this 12 episode documentary series, I had the privilege of filming and editing the process of restoring a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro z28 for a close friend of ours at Speed Society, Kristian Nyberg. He was unfortunately diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme Stage 4 Brain Cancer and as a last wish had asked us to restore his car and help him drive it with his son one last time. Luckily, with the help of almost 50 companies in the automotive space and countless man hours and hands, we accomplished the goal we set out for, the finished car was appraised at over $300K, had it’s own featured booth at one of the largest automotive conventions in the country, the SEMA show, and most importantly Kristian got his last wish granted to drive with his son on the road before he passed.

I began working on the series with episode 3, and after meeting Kristian, I had to pour my heart into this project and finish the series to the end of the build. I filmed, edited, and created motion graphics for episodes 3-12.

Sportsman’s News

Cedar City, Utah

February 2017 - May 2019

During my time at Sportsman’s News, I created commercials for companies like Zeiss, Leupold, Garmin, Yamaha, Nikon, Sworovski, Browning, Sig Sauer, Yeti, Vortex, Camp Chef, etc. while working directly with marketing directors and on occasion with Presidents and CEOs from said companies.

Videos like these were posted to the company's Youtube page, where I amassed over 1.1 million unique video views in 2017 and over 1,307,000 unique views in 2018. On top of this, I held the channel to a steady growth pattern with an average of +160 subscribers a month and growing.

Good Morning, Los Angeles!

Hollywood, California / Oklahoma City, OK

April 2016 - December 2017

"Good Morning, Los Angeles!" is my Youtube channel, and brand that I created in April 2016. The idea here was to self-film my move to Los Angeles after accepting a job in the area. This creative outlet soon tuned into much more than just daily vlogs, and provided a place for me to post whatever I desired freely.

The channel was fairly successful, collaborating with other creators to amass over 2 million unique video views in under a month. Not only that, but in the month of October 2016, the channel grew 5.5K subscribers and hit 25K unique video views in that month alone.

Today, the channel still exists as a way to test out content and get feedback on my work, as well as a place for my demo reels, short films, and other miscellaneous creative endeavors.

The Mars Reel

Hollywood, California

December 2015 - August 2016

The Mars Reel has more than 30 million monthly viewers on social media, and it has raised $4.7 million from investors including LeBron James and Drake and inked content deals with USA Today and James' digital media company, Uninterrupted. Mars Reel provides coverage of the most exciting athletes and teams in high school hoops through multiple outlets such as their Youtube channel with 101K subscribers or their Facebook page with 370K followers.

During my time with The Mars Reel, I created content which brought 1 million+ video views across several platforms, edited and managed large quantities of footage to produce meaningful content, collaborated with other team members to produce videos within the deadlines, and helped create new captivating ways to share content across several platforms all in a fast-paced startup environment.
